Typically, these are people who prefer to deal more with things than with ideas or people, are more oriented to the present than to the past of future and have structured pattern of thought.  They perceive themselves as having mechanical and athletic ability.  They are apt to value concrete things or tangible personal characteristics like money, power and status.  They will try to avoid goals, values and tasks, which require subjectivity, intellectualism or social skills.  Realistic people prefer action to words and show impatience with those who prefer to talk about issues rather than do something about them.  They prefer to produce useful things that are well made.  They tend to be conservative in their attitude and values because they have been tested and are reliable.  Individuals of this type tend to be found in occupations related t engineering, skilled trades, agricultural and technical vocations.

Preferred Work Environment:
